Mdina is called the silent city, and silence was the whole brief. The hardest thing to design is the space between the words.
The problem
Its rarity read as emptiness online — too little said, in the wrong, flat voice.
Approach
We let the silence speak: long corridors, held pauses, stone that remembers.
Scarcity framed as privilege, never as a countdown timer.
Enquiry made personal — a quiet note, answered by a person.
The arrival
A walk down a torch-lit corridor that ends at a single open door.
Result
Enquiries arrived better-qualified.
The residence held its rate and its calm.
Rarity finally felt like an invitation, not an absence.
